More Information About this Art Greeting Card

The Love Art? range published by Museums and Galleries in collaboration with the Art Fund comprises an exclusive collection of greeting cards of paintings from the world's greatest art galleries and museums, reproduced faithfully to the highest possible standard.

In his public life Picasso often took a stand on humanitarian issues and his pacifist outlook is beautifully encapsulated in the drawing reproduced on this art greeting card. Pablo Picasso was born on October 25, 1881, in Malaga, Spain. The son of an academic painter, José Ruiz Blanco, he began to draw at an early age. In 1895, the family moved to Barcelona, and Picasso studied there at La Lonja, the academy of fine arts. His visit to Horta de Ebro from 1898 to 1899 and his association with the group at the café Els Quatre Gats in about 1899 was crucial to his early artistic development. In 1900, Picasso's first exhibition took place in Barcelona, and that fall he went to Paris for the first of several stays during the early years of the century.

This greeting card is a part of The LoveArt? range which is published by Museums & Galleries Marketing Ltd., in association with The Art Fund. The Art Fund is an independent membership charity committed to saving art for everyone to enjoy. Since 1903 Art Fund members have helped save over 850,000 works of art for museums and galleries in the UK. A 25p donation from the sale of this greeting card will be given to The Art Fund.
